Hybrid vehicles Versus Gas vehicles and Diesel vehicles
Hybrid vehicles are the future of automobile industry. Unfortunately either because of research cost or technology cost or parts cost, the cost of Hybrid vehicles do not justify the cost of fuel savings. The Average Useful life of vehicle is not more than 10 years in cold weather countries without heavy maintenance cost.
If you do not drive more than national average yearly mileage of around 18000 km/year, the average fuel cost savings in fuel hardly break even in 10 years with the extra vehicle cost you paid.
Moreover the hybrid parts especially the batteries are very expensive and very few technicians have the proper diagnostic knowledge of the hybrid technology which is highly based on electrical and electronics knowledge.
Even some technicians at manufacturer dealerships makes blunder mistakes in diagnostics of hybrid vehicles. The red seal program of Canadian and provincial government are not capable of making quality technicians. This program is good only for training technicians for most mechanical repair and basic electrical repairs.
Red seal program is a waste of time, resources and money when it comes to prepare quality technicians for advance level repairs of electrical and electronics repair of hybrid and regular vehicles. All vehicles are highly complex electrically and advance knowledge of electrical and electronic is the key to proper diagnostics of such vehicles.
This is the prime reason for lots of unsatisfied loyal customers of any vehicle make and model. Sometimes customers get frustrated with repeat visits to dealerships for same particular problem without proper resolution. On top they get highly disappointed sometimes with their best make and brand simply because they get overcharged heavily because of inability of dealership to diagnostic problem correctly in first or second attempt and in some cases many more attempts.
To justify their time sometimes dealerships do not want to cover the cost of repair under warranty and try to put blame on customer or general mechanic shops.
Keep in mind if you must buy Hybrid Vehicle then at least buy new vehicle and not used. Also check auto reviews on internet for common problems and any cases where customers are frustrated with their dealers due to misdiagnose and not covered under warranty.
