Online Repair Tips

ONLINE REPAIR TIPS:

                                                                                                                      By Satnam Singh Sidhu BC
Auto repair is the least desirable and expected cost in any body's budget. When we buy a car we expect it last a long without repair. Fortunately new cars comes with manufacturer warranties so that you don't have to worry about it for about 5 years or 1,00,000km (which ever comes first) for any problems during that period. Vehicles do fail during warranty period but at least you don't have to pay for it.

Buying a used car  has its own advantages especially if you don't have enough cash to buy it or you don't want to enter into a monthly payment agreement. I heard lot of customer that they bought a dirt cheap car like under $1000 and it lasted for long time, way more than they expected. On other hands, lot of my customers could not stop regretting for buying a vehicle which was nothing but troubles, ever since they bought it.

But it all depends how honest and reliable the seller is who tells you upfront about all the problems he or she knows. Still there are chances that certain parts may fail unexpectedly, which were not known to seller. Buying a Certified Vehicle through local dealership is the best way to go for pre-owned used vehicle.

Buying from reputable dealership through professional certified salesperson has lot of advantages. A peace of mind that you are buying through a legit business who have to disclose everything about the vehicle and there are no chances of lien against the vehicle.

Whereas buying through a private deal has lot of potential dangers of scam. There may be a lien on vehicle, excessive damage to vehicle not disclosed to you, other hidden problems not disclosed and so on. May be the seller is not the owner of vehicle etc.

Well lets take it as a way of life. But biggest problem arises when you have a Auto Repair Problem and your mechanic is not experienced, honest and reliable. What are the chances:

1 Mechanic may not have enough experience and  misdiagnose it and may cost you more than expected.
2 Mechanic knows the exact problem but quote you double the  price for the greed of extra profit.
3 Worse case is when you have a mechanic who misdiagnose and double quote. In which case you may end up paying four times the actual repair cost.

Well getting it diagnosed from a professional mechanic and repaired by an experienced and honest professional mechanic could be your best Christmas Gift from Santa Claus.
Or simply say your mechanic is your Santa Claus!

Following are the most possibilities of expected or unexpected repairs:

1   General Mechanical Repair including cooling system, a/c system
2   Engine Mechanical Repair
3   Electrical Repair
4   Check Engine Light
5   Suspension, Brake Calipers and lines, Wheels, Wheel Alignment
6   Transmission Repair, Drive line, Axles, Ball joints, bushings, frame, chassis

Buying a vehicle free of mechanical and electrical problems is the best choice along with choosing a brand name vehicle known for good reliability.

Surrey Auto Repair Tips

Welcome to Surrey Auto Repair Tips

Repair Tips:
Carefully note down the problem.
Check if it is Mechanical problem, Electrical Problem, Hydraulic Problem, Fluid leak problem
Pin point what part has failed if possible
If it is Mechanical problem you may see physically broken parts or undesired noises from failed parts.
Call the local repair shops and explain the problem. Ask for possible solution and cost estimate.
At least call three shops and compare their Service Quality over the phone
                                                                 Knowledge of the mechanic
What are the possibilities of failure of more parts
Cost Estimate for the particular job and additional possible parts
                                                                 and labor.

The most trickiest repair of vehicle is the transmission failure.
Most shops won't give you a quote over the phone. They will try to put your vehicle on hoist before giving you a estimate. Well try to get an estimate and possible additional cost before they open the oil pan of your vehicle transmission. Literally you can save hundreds of dollars by doing so.

Electrical problems including check engine light are also another complex field. There are possibilities for certain electrical failures to be hard to diagnose and may need additional diagnostic before giving you the estimate. In that case you ask the mechanic for worst case scenario and its cost and most probable cost. That give you the idea about the upper cost limit of different shops for same or similar jobs which make it easy for you to decide the right shop.
